The Passing Leaves
The Passing Leaves was a passion project of mine, and also my senior thesis project at Ringling College of Art and Design.
A picture book of about 28 illustrated pages, The Passing Leaves is a tale about an oak tree and a pine tree, who are best friends in a world that does not want them to remain friends. They must navigate that, as well as the passing seasons and their effects.
The goal of this project was not only to bring a project from ideation to full creation while battling the specifics in printing, but also to finish out the year with a pitch to bring to possible publishers.
This project was born of an idea, a passing note that came to mind one day in the dead of winter, having seen a single pine tree standing amongst a grove of dead deciduous trees.
"Oh, how lonely it must be to brave the winter alone when everybody else has gone."
